Catholic Charities’ Nightingale Center to provide medical respite for Napa County

Catholic Charities’ Shelter and Housing Department will operate the Nightingale Center at 1950 Jefferson Street as a medical respite center for patients from the Queen of the Valley and St. Helena hospitals that can be discharged but have no place to continue recovery. It is critical that clients be released to a safe and stable environment to minimize recidivism. The facility will have 11 beds to provide temporary on-site residential medical care.

Catholic Charities has 2.5 years of experience managing the 13 bed Nightingale facility in Santa Rosa, a short term facility that allows bed rest and recuperation for individuals being discharged from hospitals. The local hospitals fund the program and Catholic Charities in turn provides an option for discharge planners to refer patients. The Santa Rosa facility has saved St. Joseph’s and other area hospitals more than 10 million dollars over a two year period.

Catholics Charities of the Diocese of Santa Rosa is one of the largest service agencies in Sonoma County and a key provider of social services in Napa and Lake Counties.

The Gasser Foundation is proud to partner with Catholic Charities to offer the same opportunities to the less fortunate in Napa County.
